WHERE DO WE GO NOW? SEE YOU IN 2027
All right, there have been some questions about what the video actually means and relative to when we're doing this again. So I thought I'd share a little more clarity about what has to happen to make this work. We can't just turn around and do it right now. It will take me probably a week or two to re-plot everything and get that done. I have some other things that I need to get through to verify. But then also for Guinness, they have to pre-approve these routes. That takes

DAY 19: WRA...WE RISE AGAIN
Day 19 of running across America, 70 miles per day. By now you've probably seen the video of our quite significant revelation. When you start to look at the impact of four or five days of lost time on the wrong trail, two days through the ER, multiple days of being sick, it adds up and you realize, right, we weren't going to able to hit that target. And when we were in the ER, I'm a little embarrassed to say, I think I put a little telescope, some blinders on, and told myself

DAY 18: REVELATIONS
Day 18: I don't even know where to begin. We started at one o'clock in the morning, got about three miles in. We were in national land, apparently you can run your sheep, but what they run them with are guardian dogs. We were on trails that have no path, so we turned back, we decided to wait till sunlight because there was no way for us to find our way around them. As many of you may have seen, the videos thereafter were no trails straight up and over the mountains. Over the

DAY 18, MILE 1
Day 18 running across America, 70 miles per day. Yes, I'll keep saying it even though we're missing it. It gives us that stretch target that we need to try to hit. I'm taping my blisters, which we have surprisingly only had two so far. The first blister showed up on day 14 and the second one was a nice, big old blister yesterday, but those are the little nagging things. We've had some pretty heavy rainstorms up here in the mountain today so I was my telling my sister and Jas

DAY 17: CROSS COUNTRY
Day 17: It's been yet another interesting day. We have been able to run the entire time, primarily until we got to the trails. We actually literally ran into a cross-country team this morning, so that was pretty funny. All the kids were a little shocked at what they were seeing go by. But then we ended up on a bunch of trails again. We had over 5,000 feet of straight (not counting the up and down) of climb. We're currently at 9,500 feet. That was also unexpected. The trails—w

DAY 17, MILE 1
Day 17 running across America, 70 miles per day. This trip is nothing if not dynamic. We had a couple great days, and then yesterday we had to make that difficult decision, which has always been a challenge for me when injuries progress into true problems. Do you pause or do you push through? Fortunately or unfortunately, I've always been someone that was willing to push through until it broke. It is always just what I did. I kind of admire people who can do that in some ways

DAY 16, MILE 1
Day 16 of running across America, 70 miles per day. We had a pretty great day again yesterday. Day 15 was over 65 miles. So, woohoo, hopefully we're seeing a multi-day trend here. Today, we're hoping to go over 60 again—or I should say not hoping, pushing over 60. As of yesterday, which is two weeks and one day, we are over 26% done. I'll let you guys figure out how all that math works and what the logic could look like, but that's actually a better position than I thought we

DAY 15: "X" MARKS THE SPOT
Day 15: It's hard to believe we're in the third week. It's been a good day today so far. We're moving along pretty well. We had some logistical excitement—we had a hard time finding our starting spot this morning. So if you can imagine running on roads that go straight for probably 60 miles, sometimes it's hard to find the little "X marks the spot." We do what's called a stakeout most nights, which is just a little spray paint symbol. It's hard to see at 1 o'clock in the morn

DAY 15, MILE 1
Day 15 running across America, 70 miles per day. We are well into Utah, making our way to a town called Delta. We hit a pretty decent milestone yesterday crossing out of the Pacific Standard Time zone into the Mountain Time zone. One of the things we did to help mitigate that so we didn't lose any time was that we got up about 45 minutes earlier, we had a little bit faster morning and that way we didn't lose anything on the road. We're basically on the same time frame. I got

DAY 14: WHAT DOESN'T KILL YOU MAKES YOU HARDER
It's the end of day 14. We're walking out the legs for the last couple miles here and I can honestly say this is the most pain I've been in since I can remember—certainly for this trip. Those trails yesterday just wrecked absolutely wrecked my lower body in all facets. But what doesn't kill you makes you harder. We're closing well over 60 today, and hopefully that becomes the trend.

DAY 14, MILE 1
Day 14 of running across America, 70 miles per day. It's just another day. We're cranking our way into Utah here shortly. Probably within two hours we should be in Utah, if not better. In fact, I just noticed the hat I'm wearing today says Utah. It should be a decent day today. We're just going to plow forward. Not very exciting, as we're on the same road the whole time, kind of like Nevada has been. Something I meant to note over the last couple days, we've been at 6,000 plu

DAY 13: OFF THE BEATEN PATH
Day 13 is right up there with the hardest days I think we've had thus far. All except for two miles have been trails, and not a nice trail, frankly. We crested over 10,000 feet, up and down. The crew has been real troopers today. Jason was with me in the first part pretty sure if there was a helicopter evac and opportunity to divorce me, he would have done that in the moment. It was rough this morning. Colby was gracious enough to join for a lot of the afternoon and I'm prett

DAY 13: THE ONLY WAY OUT IS THROUGH
Day 13: That trail we thought we were hitting at 3 AM, we actually hit at 2 AM—and it was not short. We didn't get done with that until, well, it was about 7 1⁄2 hours later. That was the worst trail I think I've ever been on in my life. The phrase that kept going on through my brain was "the only way out is through," because we were in such a bad place that you couldn't turn back, you had to go forward. It was hours and hours of, just imagine taking Yosemite, days three, fou

DAY 13, MILE 1
Good morning! Day 13 of running across America, 70 miles per day. We are headed out in just a couple minutes to get started hopefully things manifest a little bit better than yesterday. Yesterday was 52 and a half miles. I actually feel quite a bit better today, so we'll see how that shakes out. It's been interesting—if you start running like this, there can be minute to minute changes where you can feel awesome and then all of a sudden be toppled over on the side of the roa

DAY 12: ELY, NEVADA
It is the end of day 12. We closed out a couple of hours ago at over 52 and a half miles, which compared to my goal is maybe not where I'd like it to be. But considering we're still heavy into bronchitis mode, I guess I'll take it. We had more climb than we thought we would have, and a lot of headwinds today. We've made it to Ely, Nevada which is great that gets us close to the east border to get into Utah so making it even into a third state is kind of unbelievable honestly,

DAY 12, MILE 1
Day 12 of running across America, 70 miles per day, and still getting through bronchitis. As you may recall, yesterday we had to back off. We had a great first day after coming back in at 60+ yesterday, mostly walking. We ended up closing over 33. So we're hoping today is another win for me instead of bronchitis. Feeling okay, but we'll see how this goes. Humidity is going up, which should help. And yeah, we're going to plow our way as close as we can to Ely, Nevada, which ge

DAY 11: NUTRITON FACTS
I mentioned there had been some interest in nutrition and what does it take to do something as long as this? It's probably a long topic, but I'll try to shorten it for today and we can touch on this on maybe a few other days as well. There are really two big things I've learned over the last decade or so that are critical. One of them is what are the right calories? Calories are energy. And the second is getting enough calories and enough energy. So what do I mean on the firs

DAY 11: MORGAN v. BRONCHITIS (1-1)
Day 11 of running across America, 70 miles a day. We are not running today. Yesterday, Morgan won. Today, bronchitis did. I made it maybe 12 miles of hacking and then it took quite a bit to recover. We can't run, so we walk it's going to be a lot of hours of walking today. I figure maybe we'll take the opportunity since I can actually think and maybe talk that we'll do a couple of postings on topics of interest. There was some early interest in nutrition and clearly we've bee

DAY 11, MILE 1
Day 11 of running across America, 70 miles a day. I was feeling pretty crappy at the end of the day yesterday, but it was a pretty dynamic day. Running itself actually went extremely well. We finished about two hours early and still closed over 60 miles, which I think surprised all of us. So why did we close two hours early? That's when my chest started to feel like it was time to end the day—I'm guessing my chest was reacting to the humidity dropping and the temperature warm

DAY 10: INSPIRE ME TO INSPIRE YOU
Day 10, running across America 70 miles per day. We're going to test it out today and make sure we don't go beyond the point of not allowing the bronchitis to continue to heal. It's going to be an interesting attempt. We'll see how that goes. Try to walk in that fine line of pushing forward while also letting the virus do what it needs to do. The antibiotics really aren't going to help the virus, of course. That's to help prevent it from getting worse. Steroids should help ke
