DAY 13: OFF THE BEATEN PATH
Day 13 is right up there with the hardest days I think we've had thus far. All except for two miles have been trails, and not a nice trail, frankly. We crested over 10,000 feet, up and down.
The crew has been real troopers today. Jason was with me in the first part pretty sure if there was a helicopter evac and opportunity to divorce me, he would have done that in the moment. It was rough this morning. Colby was gracious enough to join for a lot of the afternoon and I'm pretty sure she's not going to ever volunteer again, so a bit of a rough day. Decent mileage as a result, or considering, I should say.
We're almost done. It's been a long day, but it is what it is. We take it, and we show up tomorrow. At least tomorrow we'll be on roads again. So, like I said earlier, this was a day that "the only way forward is through." Same thing for the afternoon. Once you started on that trail, you're not turning back, so you only have one option. That makes for some challenging times. But we're wrapping up.
See you in the morning.
